A lot of quality stuff but a few things missing
I’m generally fond of the Dummies series. I like its non-pretentious style and practical perspective. The series is perfect for beginners in any subject matter of the Dummies book they’re reading. This book follows that style giving succinct yet comprehensive explanation of the key networking concepts and essential software solutions used by a typical computer network manager, plus tips and tricks. However, I didn’t find a lot of information about routing, the aspect of networks I’m particularly interested in. In addition, perhaps due to this being the 12th release, I couldn’t get rid of the feeling that the most of the book talks about technologies that are increasingly leaving their space to cloud solutions which are talked about briefly only in the end of the book.

Shop With Caution.
I wanted to reconnect my network printer on Windows 10. But this book just said "use your work group...". Does that make me less than a " dummy? " I think not. But I have a nonrefundable book and no use for it. My printer is connected now. Another lesson in life, I guess.

You get an “F”
. There is very little explanation about how things actually work. The authors jokes suck and gets political from time to time. I’m just trying to learn about networking from a book called networking and at that this book fails miserably. Half the book is about systems if not more. Dude defines things but never explains how it works or why it exists. There are very few (and I mean, very few) instances where the author gives examples of when the things he is trying to explain would be used. But I must say they were bad or simplistic examples. I am fairly certain this person has never really worked IT.

Disappointing
I wanted a book to teach me about the intricacies of networking, but this is more helpful to someone tasked with being a network administrator of a very small business network. It does start out with some good basics but then launches off into basics for multiuser networks. I was hoping for some real expertise on the setup and operation of home networks.

Not for true dummies like me
Was expecting a book for someone that knows nothing or very little about networking but was disappointed when I read it. It doesn't teach the basics (in my opinion)
