Very Informative
Excellent book for me as I learned a lot. Financial literacy is an issue in this country and this book fills in a lot of holes.

Valuable information for beginners.
I purchased this book along with another “Dummies “ book. I have taken multiple personal finance classes throughout my life and I might say I am really pleased with the way the book is designed, laced out and its language. It’s written for the people who want a basic interpretation and definitions of finance. I have not completed all the chapters, but what I have read, is very detailed and in plain English. So many examples to help you get a better idea of what keeping your personal finances in check. I would recommend to high school graduates, newly married couples and pretty much anybody needing basic introduction to personal finance. Well written. Simple to comprehend, with real world examples. Highly recommend.

Solid foundation - great for financial literacy
Great introduction - I have an MBA and some of the stuff in this was actually news to me, but mostly just a review of good finance practices. I'd highly recommend to anyone graduating high school or entering college - it'll at least introduce topics that you haven't had exposure to yet - like the importance of disability insurance and how to approach an investment portfolio.

Timeless advice with outdated stories and examples. Needs a refresh with a younger perspective.
Over 25 years ago, I bought this book as a young adult to help me get on track. At the time it was priceless. I became so interested in personal finance that I pursued a career as a financial advisor. Fast forward 25 years, a young relative was having financial challenges so my wife and I opened the door for her to stay with us while she went to community college, established a job, and get her life on a solid foundation. As part of our commitment, we are doing a book study with her using the latest version of this book. I can say the book is serving our purpose, but some examples and advice seem so outdated and not relevant to today’s kids. Fortunately, I can talk around these shortcomings with our student. However, if I was a young adult reading this book, I think it would be hard to stick to. Sometimes, I read the book and feel like an old man is lecturing a young kid, and having no clue what that kid is actually going through. That being said, the format and progression of advice is spot on and timeless. In my opinion, this book is due for a refresh by somebody who understands young adults today. The environment we live in today is far more complicated than what I experienced as a young adult 25 years ago.
